Soccer Team Parents Needed
Now that the seasons are underway, we are looking for some volunteers to serve as team parents for the Junior varsity and Reserve teams. Their roles are fairly simple: we need help organizing snacks for the bus trips, so that the teams do not have to stop on the way home when they are playing away, and eat unhealthy fast food. Our tradition is to prepare bagels, fruit, energy bars and healthy drinks. The responsibility rotates among parents, and coordinating it is fairly easy. Team parents also help with the end-of-season celebrations, and in some years have prepared snacks for both Hanover and the visiting teams at our home games. We have always done this on the varsity level, and it's a nice touch. Alumni Game Postponed
Saturday's weather forecast is not an encouraging one, and we have decided to postpone the Alumni game until the Saturday after Thanksgiving in November, which is our traditional season-ending ceremony.
We will still participate in the CHaD Half Marathon, rain or shine!

CHaD Half Marathon
We are hoping to have a number of players participate as relay runners, walkers or Cam's Course walkers in the CHaD Half Marathon on Saturday, August 29. It's easy to register on line, and players can register as Youth in Action members for a modest fee. The link for the information and registration is here

The Varsity Boys travel to Exeter on Wednesday, Aug. 26 for scrimmages against St. Thomas
(5:00) and Exeter High School (7:00). Both games will be played in Bill Ball Stadium at Exeter High School.

Team Selection Completed
We will finish the team selection process today, and announce the Varsity, JV and Reserve teams.
The Varsity and JV will scrimmage today at Concord. The JV and reserve teams will practice Wednesday after school.
The JV will practice most days at Huntley. Players need to arrange their own transportation, and this will be explained in detail at the meeting Thursday night.
Reserve players will train and play most days at the fields on Rt. 5 in Norwich. There will be a bus available after school every day to take the reserve teams to practice. Players may be picked up after practice n Norwich, or back at the school. Practice on most school days will be from 4:00 - 5:30.
On Wednesday, the JV will practice at Huntley, and the Reserves will practice at Hanover High on the turf field, from 2:30 - 4:00.
On Thursday, all teams will stay after school to be given uniforms and have team photos taken. They are free after that, but should return to school at 5:30 with parents for the Introductory Meeting in the Auditorium at HHS.
Everyone is welcome to stay after the meeting for a picnic supper. We will provide drinks. The varsity boys have ahome game at 7:00 on the turf field.

JV and Reserve Tryouts
Tryouts for Junior Varsity and Reserve soccer will be at Huntley Meadow in Norwich for all candidates. Tryouts Monday are from 4:00 - 6:00 p.m., and on Tuesday from 9;00 - 11:00 a.m. All candidates should be properly equipped with shorts, shin guards and mouthpieces, and bring plenty of water.
Teams will be named on Tuesday at the end of the session, and team practices will begin on Wednesday after school. The first JV game is on September 1, and the first reserve contest is on September 9. Full schedules will be published shortly.
There is an informational meeting for all parents and players in the HHS auditorium on Thursday at 5:30 p.m. Everyone is invited to a picnic supper (please bring your own food and drink) after the meeting. There is a varsity home scrimmage on the turf field at 7:00 p.m. and everyone is invited to attend.

Team Camp Goodbye
Today is the last day of Team Camp at Windridge, and it has been a tremendous success. We played three scrimmage matches yesterday, and again every player (incuding each of four goalies) got some quality playing time. Freshmen Brendan Barth and Ian Strohbehn each scored their first Hanover goals, and we managed a total of ten over the three matches. In between games, there has been planty of time for tennis, the swimming pool, and a lot of ping pong. We had very little rain yesterday, and after a morning shower we expect no more today. We have two more scrimmage sessions and then will leave on schedule at 4:00, feeling much more together than when we camp. It has been a long, hard week of preseason, and we will be happy to have single sessions from here on out. We're grateful to the Windridge staff for their help in making this work so well!
