Marauders Open Tournament with Con-Val Thursday

Hanover will open the NHIAA Class I Tournament with a first-round game on Thursday, Oct. 29 at 6:00 p.m. against Con-Val at Merriman-Branch Field. The game will be marked with a halftime ceremony honoring the 10 graduating seniors and their parents.

Hanover was ranked 1st in the NHIAA standings with a 12-1-1 record. Con-Val comes in as the #16 seed after compiling a regular season record of 7-9. The two teams did not meet since the regular season this year. Their most recent match was a regular season affair won by Hanover 5-0 in 2007. Their most recent postseason match was a 2-1 Hanover victory in the NHIAA Semifinals in 1992. The Marauders then defeated Souhegan 2-0 in the Finals. One of the leading players on that 17-0-0 squad was Jamie Clark, who played at Stanford and in the MLS and is currently the Head Coach at Harvard.

If Hanover advances past Thursday's game, they will host a quarterfinal game on Sunday, November 1 at 2:00, and play the winner of the first round match between eighth-seeded Merrimack Valley and ninth-seeded Bedford.

The top seeds in the NHIAA rankings after Hanover were: #2 Coe-Brown, #3 St. Thomas, #4 Souhegan, #5 Kearsarge, #6 Lebanon and #7 Hollis-Brookline.
