Players from all three of Hanover's boys' soccer teams were honored at the 4th annual Soccer Awards Night at the high school. Following a bountiful dessert buffet, players from the Reserve and Junior Varsity squads received their certificates from Coaches Jason Landers and Mike Callanan. Both coaches were presented awards by Reserve Captain James Choi and JV Captains Alex Dodds and Chris Harwick. Varsity Coach Rob Grabill made several presentations, honoring exchange students Basel Dashti and Muhaimanul Riaz for their character and contributions to the program, and citing Duncan Piper and Ben Harris for the fundraising efforts during the CROP Walk to fight hunger. Varsity Captains Nate Hanna and Dan Remillard presented the NHIAA State Championship plaque to Athletic Director Mike Jackson. Varsity team awards will be announced at the Varsity Team Dinner next Monday evening.
The evening concluded with the second annual Talent Show/Music Recital, featuring Eric Jayne on 'cello, Matt Barth on trumpet, piano solos by Jonathan Kenkel and Bai Dei, the vocal stylings of James Choi, and a vocal quintet of Eric Jayne, Joe Carey, Connor Betivoglio, Sam Farnham and Trey Rebman, accompanied on guitar by the ubiquitous Jayne.
